Ring-style door knocker with backplate

Central Europe, mid-16th century

Malleable iron. Two round bars intertwined and twisted into circles and figures-of-eight with forged acorn and dragon head terminals. An arrow passes through the shackle connecting the bars. Backplate of bulbous leaves decorated with grooving and circular punch marks.
